Space Access for Student Groups

Meeting & Event Space

At some point your group will need to secure space to hold either meetings, rehearsals or events. While there are a variety of spaces available to student groups on campus, they are usually in high demand and it is best to plan as early as possible. Space reservations for Lerner Hall, residence lounges, classroom, and outdoor spaces is facilitated by University Events Management. Additional spaces available on campus include the Intercultural Resource Center, the Kraft Center for Jewish Life, and facilities at Barnard CollegeAlternative space options outside of these frequently used venues are also available.  Please remember that different policies apply for reserving space in any of these areas and are subject to change.

Lerner 5th Floor Group Meeting Area

The 5th Floor Student Group Resource Area encompasses various spaces in suites 505 – 510 in Lerner Hall.  Here, clubs can take advantage of storage space, publication facilities and equipment, individual club mailboxes, and access to computers and software packages.  The 5th floor Student Group Resource Area is a space made for students and run by students.  The Student Government Office (SGO) Manager administers the area.

The group meeting area is a reservable space that can comfortably accommodate up to 15 people. There is a conference table and chairs that can be reserved through the Student Government Office Manager. Requests for use of the meeting space should be submitted via email to sgo@columbia.edu or in person at the Leadership Office (510E Lerner) at least three days in advance of meeting. E-mail should state date, time and group. A confirmation of availability will be given via email. The meeting space cannot be reserved for on-going meetings.  The SGO Manager is responsible for the upkeep of the area and can provide details about policies for use of the space.
