Thank you for your interest in the Intercultural Resource Center (IRC) and for considering the Intercultural House (ICH) as your housing option! The application for Fall 2020 is now open!
All residents must participate in a mandatory weekend orientation/retreat to take place prior to the start of the fall semester. Inability to participate in this experiential program in its entirety is cause for expulsion from the program and residence. No exceptions will be made. The retreat's tentative dates are Friday, September 4–Sunday, September 6.
Note: Applicants are expected to reside in the ICH community for a full academic year. Plans to study abroad during the 2020–21 academic year may affect consideration of prospective residency.
Questions about the process, program requirements and/or qualifications? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prospective ICH residents should support the IRC’s objective to collectively work toward social justice, actively build community within the ICH and on campus and develop awareness of issues related to social inequity through education and social exchange. Applicants must be enrolled in no fewer than twelve points at Columbia College, Columbia Engineering or Barnard College. During their year of residence, applicants must be sophomores, juniors or seniors in good academic standing and disciplinary status (status may be verified as a part of the application process).
Priority Deadline: Friday, December 20 (after this date, applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for any remaining openings)
House Interviews: Wednesday, January 29–Tuesday, February 11
Notifications of Acceptance/Placement: Friday, February 14
Deadline for Candidates to Confirm: Monday, February 17
Applicants that submit an application after interview days will be placed on a wait list. Please email Multicultural Affairs to inquire about the wait list process. All information is confidential and will remain on file for one year or until your residency in the IRC/ICH ends, whichever comes first.
All accompanying information, such as resumes, transcripts and program flyers must be included for your application to be complete.
All submitted materials and attachments become the property of the IRC and will not be returned. Applications that are incomplete in any way will not be reviewed.
