Student Advising

The Global Outreach Committee (GOC) upholds in part the CUSP Pillar of Global Awareness, through their commitment to expanding the cultural and socio-political horizons of the Scholars, creating intercultural and poly-cultural events, and encouraging knowledge through dialogue.  The GOC often partners with various University, community, and international outreach organizations to develop and implement volunteer efforts, charity campaigns, and cultural awareness events.

Each year the GOC has led CUSP in charity walks and runs, raising thousands of dollars for cancer awareness and research.  The most recent efforts have been “Relay for Life” support the American Cancer Society and “Light the Night” supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In 2007, the GOC galvanized CUSP and partnered with World Vision (a humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice) for ABRAÇO, CUSP’s spring fundraising effort to raise awareness and funds for education in Mozambique.  Highlighting the campaign, is the March benefit concert featuring Stewart Sukuma, internationally acclaimed Mozambican musician and social activist.
