Justin, born and raised in California, holds a B.A., magna cum laude, in English and German from Amherst College; an M.A. in English from the University of Chicago; an M.A in European studies from the University of Vienna; an M.Ed. in teaching and curriculum from Harvard; an M.A. in politics and education from Columbia University's Teachers College; an M.Ed. in politics and education from Columbia University's Teachers College; and an M.S. in journalism from Columbia. He has taught University Writing at Columbia since 2008, and previously taught high school and college-aged students in Europe and Asia for six years. Justin loves traveling, learning languages and attending classical-music concerts, operas and plays. He is a contributing editor at The Hechinger Report and writes about education for various publications. Justin's loyalties lie with Boston's sports teams (Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins!).
