Description
The Marshfield Clinic Research Institute has offered summer research internship opportunities to qualified students since 1974. The primary goal of the program is to provide a mentored, hands-on research experience for college undergraduate, graduate, dental, and medical students considering a career in research. Students work with a research scientist on an independent project and contribute to all aspects of the research process. In addition to the independent projects, students are encouraged to attend medical Grand Rounds, scientific seminars and journal clubs. Opportunities to shadow clinicians are also available. All students are required to attend an IRB meeting, lead a journal club discussion, prepare an abstract describing their research, and prepare and deliver an oral presentation of their research at the annual Research Symposium in August.
