Virtual Class Day and Virtual University Commencement

All graduates are invited to participate in both Virtual University Commencement and their school's Virtual Class Day ceremony.

Virtual University Commencement Overview

University Commencement celebrates graduates from all Columbia University schools and affiliates. Each school dean will provide brief remarks during the virtual ceremony, and President Bollinger will confer degrees to the graduates from each school en masse. Virtual Class Day Overview

Class Day is a school-specific ceremony. Attendees will enjoy remarks by the school's dean and other administrators, student leaders and a keynote speaker. The virtual ceremony will also include the reading and recognition of graduate names. When a student's name is announced and displayed, an individual slide with their name, academic accomplishments, and a photo will be displayed . See the chart below for ceremony details.

What happens? Dean Boyce will provide remarks, as will other administrators and student leaders. How do graduates register to participate? In late April, Columbia Engineering sent a registration link to October 2019 and February 2020 graduates, students who have applied to graduate in May 2020, and undergraduate students who have made special arrangements with their adviser in the Berick Center for Student Advising.
