The Columbia Engineering and Columbia College Class Day ceremonies are school-specific. In each of these ceremonies, individual students are recognized for their achievements. As their names are read, graduates process across the stage, are photographed, and receive their class pins.
Tickets are not required, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating will begin approximately one (1) hour before each ceremony's scheduled start time. The ceremonies will take place outdoors rain or shine. Note that seating areas will be tented to shield guests from the elements; however, we encourage guests to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
Entry gates are specific to each ceremony and will be noted below. For either ceremony, guests with disabilities should enter campus via the accessible gates at 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. See the disability access map for more information.
At Class Day, a professional photographer takes pictures of each graduate both on and off of the stage. Graduates will receive an email from the photography company following Class Day with proofs and instructions for ordering online and may also find their photographs by visiting the GradImages website and entering their information and "Columbia University." Soon-to-be-graduates may pre-register with GradImages to receive a discount on photo purchases.
Because professional images of each student will be made available, we ask that guests remain in their seats throughout the ceremony and refrain from standing to take pictures. This will maximize viewing opportunities and ensure an enjoyable experience for all in attendance.
