Columbia College | Columbia Engineering

Senior Recognition

Awards are presented annually in the spring to graduating seniors whose efforts are deemed outstanding by fellow classmates or faculty in terms of leadership, cocurricular accomplishments, and noteworthy contributions to the Columbia community or academics.

Academic Department Awards

Departments from Columbia College and Columbia Engineering recognize outstanding students from their areas at dinners and receptions. Please check with your academic department for more information.

Class Day Awards

These awards, named by or for alumni who left a gift to Columbia, are given to students who meet the specific qualifications of each award.  Students recognized by these awards are honored at their Class Day Ceremony and are also invited to a special reception hosted by an alumnus/a to celebrate their accomplishments.

King’s Crown Leadership Excellence Awards

Awarded from Columbia Student Affairs, the King’s Crown Leadership Excellence Awards recognize students who have excelled in the areas of community building, ethics and morality, Columbia spirit, civic responsibility, innovation and enhancement, bridge building, and health and wellness.  These awards are given at the King’s Crown Leadership Excellence Awards reception in the spring.

Senior Marshal

This honor is bestowed upon members of the graduating class who have demonstrated achievements in their academics and extracurricular activities. Senior Marshals are worthy of recognition for their personal achievements and for demonstrating what it means to “be a Columbian.”  During the Class Day ceremony, their robe is adorned with a gold aiguillette to signify this honor and are charged with leading their class into the ceremony.

See the Class Day Awards & Senior Marshal page for more information.
