Academic regalia (cap and gown) is required of all graduates participating in Baccalaureate Service, Class Day, and Commencement.
For bachelor's degree candidates, it is not necessary to pre-order academic regalia.
The Columbia University Bookstore will hold its annual Grad Fair in March 10-12, from 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. in the basement of Lerner Hall. Students should make arrangements to purchase a cap and gown at the Grad Fair. Bookstore staff will be on-hand to assist with measurements and sizing.
Students who were unable to attend the Grad Fair may purchase a cap and gown by visiting the Bookstore during regular business hours.
The cost for a cap, gown, and tassle for a bachelor's degree candidate is $55. Graduates may keep their academic regalia as a souvenir. Students may qualify for financial assistance to cover the cost of a cap and gown. For more information, stop by the Office of Financial Aid on the 6th floor of Lerner Hall between May 4-8 to speak with an adviser.
If you have questions regarding the purchasing of academic regalia, please contact the Columbia University Bookstore directly by calling 212-854-4131.
