Campus Accessibility

We are committed to making the Columbia University Commencement Week events accessible to all guests. Disability Services coordinates this effort. These services are available to guests who use wheelchairs, have limited mobility, the elderly needing assistance, and those with hearing and visual disabilities. During Commencement events, Disability Services staff, event hosts, and Public Safety officers will be on hand to assist guests with disabilities.

Access to Campus

Guests with mobility issues should enter campus via the 116th Street gates at Amsterdam Avenue. Event hosts will be stationed at these gates and available to assist guests with seating. Prepare for your visit by viewing the campus disability access map.

Seating

Special seating is available to guests who use wheelchairs, have limited mobility, the elderly needing assistance, and those with hearing and visual disabilities. Seating maps will be made available closer to the event dates.

Reservations are not required. Upon arrival to campus, please alert a University official to your needs, and he or she will direct you to the designated seating area.

Closed Captioning

Closed captioning will be available at both Class Day and Commencement in a designated seating area.

Upon arrival to campus, please alert a University official to your needs and he or she will direct you to the appropriate seating area.

Wheelchairs

Columbia will offer a limited number of wheelchairs to guests who are visiting campus for graduation events, and there is no cost associated with borrowing a wheelchair. However, please bring your own if possible as there is a limited quantity.
