Ask Alice! Health Promotion

Ask Alice! Health Promotion builds a healthy environment for students and the University community, connecting individuals and groups with information and resources. The program creates healthy attitudes and behaviors by promoting good health, supporting policy, and fostering an environment that values and supports well-being.

Counseling and Psychological Services

Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS)supports the psychological and emotional well-being of the campus community by providing counseling, consultation and crisis intervention — all of which adhere to strict standards of confidentiality. CPS offers short-term individual counseling, referrals for longer-term therapy, student-life support groups, medication consultation, and emergency consultation. Students can select clinicians based on special interest, among them body image issues/eating disorders, first generation students, multicultural concerns, religious and spiritual concerns, sexual and gender identity issues, and trauma support.

Disability Services

The Office of Disability Services facilitates equal access for students with disabilities by providing the appropriate accommodations and support services, creating a campus culture that is sensitive and responsive to the needs of students.

The Insurance and Immunization Compliance Offices can help students and families learn more about the Columbia Student Health Insurance plans, offer advice about making the annual student medical insurance selection and provide assistance with enrollment in the voluntary plans offered by Aetna Student Health. Students can also submit their measles, mumps and rubella documentation per the New York State public health law and get assistance with making the online meningitis vaccine decision.

Medical Services provides routine and urgent medical care, travel medicine and immunizations, as well as sexual health services, reproductive and gynecological services, LGBTQ health care and confidential HIV testing. Students can make appointments online with their health care provider or may take advantage of walk-in hours.
