Research and Fellowship Opportunities

Undergraduate Research and Fellowships supports students completing rigorous fellowship applications, some of which they may be eligible to apply for as early as their first year at Columbia.

Applying for fellowships is not an easy process. It requires thoughtful self-awareness, a lot of hard work and acceptance of the long odds facing every applicant. Even so, the application process offers certain benefits in improved critical thinking, analytical writing, and oral presentation skills—all of which can be usefully applied in nearly any future pursuit.

Through the Center for Career Education's Columbia Experience Overseas, students have the opportunity to take part in high quality internship experiences in a diverse array of industries in Amman, Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai and Singapore, thanks to alumni and employer partnerships.

Study Abroad

A semester or year abroad takes planning and forethought. We encourage your student to stop by the Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement to speak to an adviser regarding the wide variety of study abroad options available.

Studying in a foreign country can be a significant enhancement to a Columbia education. Columbia students from all majors, and with an infinite array of interests and goals, regularly immerse themselves in local cultures and study in diverse places all around the globe. Columbians have studied human rights in South Africa and jazz in Rome; they have played rugby in Scotland, debated in Australia and danced in Israel.
