Join international @ Columbia for a trip to Lower East Side of Manhattan to enjoy a food and history tour for free! This tour combines the history of the diverse Lower East Side with a series of small food sampling, or “noshing” stops from local shops and markets. The main focus of the tour is the history of the multi-ethnic Lower East Side emphasizing the neighborhoods of the Jewish East Side, Little Italy and Chinatown. During the course of the walk, participants will sample about 10 different items, representing the Dominican, Jewish, Italian and Chinese communities of the Lower East Side. Most of these items are vegetarian or dairy. All food sampling will be done outdoors. The tour uses the markets and shops to highlight the history and could be considered a light meal.
This event is open to Columbia College and Columbia Engineering undergraduate students. Space is limited; first-come, first-served.
To reserve your spot, you must fill out the form below and put down a $10 deposit with an Undergraduate Student Life staff member. If the $10 deposit presents a challenge, please contact Valeria J. Martinez (email@example.com) or visit her at Lerner 505L to discuss your options.
