This introductory session will provide participants with the knowledge to help prevent power and gender-based violence and participate in a community of care and respect at Columbia University. During this session, participants will learn:

• To identify different forms of power-based violence
• A working definition of affirmative consent
• Situations in which bystander intervention is necessary and various ways to intervene
• Resources and services available to students

Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they are learning through this interactive session facilitated by a staff member and volunteer Peer Educator from Sexual Violence Response (SVR). This is a make-up session is available for students that previously missed this required session during NSOP.
