**The deadline for application to the Student Travel Grant program has been extended to October 26
Through the travel grant program, initiated in 2005, the Earth Institute allocates funding to support travel by students matriculated in Columbia University degree programs who are engaged in research projects dealing with issues of environmental and sustainable development. This travel can be domestic or international and is for projects directly related to degree studies at Columbia University. Each grant consists of a maximum of $750 for travel expenses to conduct research meant to support students’ continued learning and research in the area of the environment and sustainable development.
Past projects include studying the scent-marking behavior of Siberian tigers, researching the effects of climate change on water resource management in Chile, and assessing sustainable hurricane protection designs in New Orleans.
More information about the travel grant program is available HERE. The application is available HERE. The deadline to apply for the fall is October 26. Students selected must submit receipts for reimbursement for travel expenses incurred during the fall program no later than January 31, 2013.
