Peer Adviser Post: Fall Registration 101

The semester is winding down which means that Fall Registration is upon us! Maybe you can finally take that class that you on the waitlist on last semester. This registration period is especially important for current first years, because your second year is when you should start really thinking about your major. SEAS students declare in the fall of their sophomore year, and CC students declare in the following spring.

We will discuss the full range of opportunities for classes, stage performance, technical and backstage work, senior thesis options, and our lineup of fall classes. Recommended for all Barnard and Columbia students considering the Theatre/Drama and Theatre Arts major!

The first registration period for the fall 2016 term will begin the week of April 18 (in two weeks). Please check SSOL for your registration appointment times, and make an appointment with your advising dean now to discuss your class schedule, ask questions, and check to see if you are completing the necessary requirements to be on track to graduate.

Join us on April 5-7 for a series of events designed to showcase the art and science of effective data visualization. A key aspect of scholarship in the 21st century is the collection and analysis of ever-growing data sets, both within and across various subject areas. We are tasked with discerning hidden patterns in gargantuan quantities of data, as well as communicating our findings to research communities, policy makers, and the general public.

Studying for midterms? Wondering if you could study better? Caroline Marvin from the Psychology department will share how research findings from cognitive neuroscience can help you develop stronger study skills. We'll leverage what we know about learning and the brain to discuss why strategies we commonly use don't work and to suggest strategies that save time and get results.
