Can you believe it? We’re already about a month deep into our classes, and it feels like the semester is whizzing by. If your schedule at all resembles mine, you’ll know that problem sets are beginning to pile on, labs and weekly quizzes are underway, and midterms are quietly creeping around the corner. Now seems like the perfect time to do a brief wellness check to assure yourself that you’re taking care of the most important thing on this campus – YOU.

The Columbia MakerSpace is open to all Columbia University affiliated students, faculty, staff, and post-docs, and is available for work on projects that require physical lab space and equipment.  The space is equipped with a range of equipment for arts and crafts work, 3D printing, woodworking, plastics fabrication, electronics work, sewing and embroidery, bicycle and mechanical repair, and more.  The facilities can be for any purpose...for class, research, club activities, or just for fun.

The Writing Center and First-in-Family Programs will be holding a special workshop on WRITING FOR THE UNIVERSITY specifically for First-Gen First-Year students. This workshop will be designed for first-years in SEAS, CC, and GS as well as for transfer students who are in their first-year at Columbia. The workshop will be in Hamilton 303 on FRIDAY 9/18 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. (although we'll probably end a little early.) We hope to see you there.
