INNER ASIA

This course seeks to disentangle the current political, social and economic dynamics in Inner Asia, Eurasia's landlocked heartland. Central themes we will explore the interactions of include:

— Life time dictators, nationalism, ethnic conflicts, revolutions;

— large weddings, closely knit social networks, rampant corruption;

Peer Adviser Post: How to Plow Through the Never-Ending Midterm Season

I remember reading the syllabus in my General Chemistry class during my first year. I remember that awkward moment when I asked the student sitting next to me if our professor had made a mistake in scheduling the midterms, which spanned from the third week of classes till the day before reading week.

He hadn't, and soon after I discovered an old Columbia adage:

There's nothing middle about midterms.
