"I graduated from Columbia College in 2000 and worked along with Jessica Marinaccio and Peter Johnson in undergraduate admissions from 2000-2003.  Since leaving Columbia I have worked in various aspects of media in an attempt to increase college access for low-income and underserved student populations.  My most recent project is a feature-length documentary film, First Generation (, which I directed and produced along with my husband Adam Fenderson.  The film follows the story of 4 low-income high school students striving to be first in their families to attend college.

The film is sponsored in part by Lumina Foundation for Education and premiered at the Heartland Film Festival in October where it was nominated for a Crystal Heart Award.  Since then it has gone on to win Best Documentary at Idyllwild International Film Festival and a special jury award for social impact at the Napa Valley Film Festival.  We had our university premiere at USC two weeks ago with a sold-out screening of over 500 RSVPs and last week University of Pennsylvania hosted a screening as part of their continuing discussion over college access and diversity."
