CSA Talks - Columbia School of the Arts Professor, Author, Producer, Screenwriter & CEO of Focus Features: James Schamus (4/30)

The Center for Student Advising is proud to present screenwriter and producer (Brokeback Mountain) and Columbia Professor James Schamus in the next of our series of CSA Talks.  Professor Schamus’ talk is entitled “My Wife is a Terrorist: Lessons in Storytelling from the Department of Homeland Security.”   

In addition to his work as an award-winning screenwriter and producer, Professor Schamus is CEO of Focus Features, the motion picture production, financing, and worldwide distribution company whose films have included Lost in Translation, Milk, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Pianist, Coraline, and The Kids Are All Right.  As Professor of Professional Practice in Columbia University’s School of the Arts, he teaches film history and theory.  He is the author of Carl Theodor Dreyer's Gertrud: The Moving Word, published by the University of Washington Press. He earned his BA, MA, and Ph.D. in English from U.C. Berkeley.
