The Columbia Community Service (CCS) 70th Annual Appeal is seeking gently used coats and clothing to assist families in need. This year, CCS will distribute coat and clothing donations to three agencies that work to address those needs at their sites.
Cathedral Community Cares: The Cathedral Community Cares (CCC) mission is to combat and alleviate poverty through preventative services, education, and advocacy, specifically targeting the issues of health and hunger. They also coordinate a Clothing Closet, which is used to distribute used clothing for children, men and women every Thursday of the week.
The Riverside Language Program: For over thirty years, the Riverside Language Program has offered free intensive classes in English to speakers of other languages. Their students are recently-arrived immigrant adults who are living in New York City. Many of their students require assistance with basic needs – food, clothing and shelter.
The Relief Boutique: The mission of the Relief Boutique is to help disadvantaged succeed in their careers by providing them with free professional clothing and advice. The Relief Boutique aims to assist women in building confidence, a positive attitude, and high self-esteem – traits essential to professional advancement. They provide two outfits, shoes, jewelry, and a handbag free of charge to disadvantaged women interviewing for work or starting new jobs.
