Sadia Safa is from Queens, NYC majoring in Political Science with a concentration in South Asian History. As a first-generation student, she is passionate about issues faced by marginalized groups and has been deeply involved in various spaces across the University including Student Council, Multicultural Affairs, the University Senate and most notably, the Alumni Association where she is the co-chair of the Senior Fund. She co-authored and passed a significant proposal in the Senate to create a physical space for first-generation low-income students this semester. She is particularly involved in FLI advocacy, serving on the First-Gen Advisory Board, FLI-Network, and as the founder of the FLI branch of the Student-Alumni Ambassadors organization. Here, she created the first FLI-Alumni mixer at the Alumni center to create connection between these two groups. Sadia strives to make Columbia an inclusive and safe space for all students and is passionate about the needs of her community.
I am forever grateful for the beautiful souls I have met along my undergraduate journey and those who have stuck with me from day one. I am nothing without their dedication, belief, and hope for the world and the future generation.
